The Benefits of Regular Chiropractic Adjustments

Chiropractic care offers more than just a short-term solution to back or neck pain. Regular chiropractic adjustments could prevent muscle and joint pain, help you heal more quickly from an injury, and improve your immune health. Fewer Aches and Pains

Chiropractors use spinal manipulation to adjust misaligned vertebrae in your spine. During this painless therapy, your chiropractor uses hands-on pressure or an activator to reposition vertebrae.

Subluxations, the term used to describe misaligned vertebrae, can occur due to falls, but may also be caused by poor posture, stress, or repetitive movements. Subluxations can alter your posture and affect the alignment and balance of your entire body. For example, your knee or hip pain might actually be caused by a subluxation in your back.

A subluxation can stress your muscles and joints, making it difficult to move your body freely. It's not unusual to experience muscle pain, stiffness, or spasms if you have a subluxation. In some cases, subluxations press on nerves in the spine, causing or increasing pain. Realigning your spine with adjustments improves your range of motion, eases muscle tension, and relieves pressure on nerves.

According to a research study published in PLoS ONe in 2025, chiropractic adjustments can regulate biomarkers linked to inflammation.

The vertebrae in your spine protect the spinal cord. Nerves branch out from the spinal cord and travel to your muscles, organs, and tissues. Subluxations can press on nerves, reducing signal strength or preventing a nerve signal from reaching its intended destination. Normal function of your body's organs and systems can be affected. You might experience heartburn due to a sluggish digestive system or catch more illnesses due to an impaired immune system.

Chiropractic care helps the body attack germs, according to a research study published in the Journal of Chiropractic Medicine in 2021. Researchers collected saliva samples from the participants in the study. Thirty minutes after upper cervical (neck) adjustments, researchers noticed a significant increase in secretory immunoglobulin (SigA). Immunoglobulins are proteins that help the immune system find and kill germs.

You're more likely to pull a muscle or lose your balance if a subluxation changes your posture or your body's natural alignment. Regular adjustments keep your spine properly aligned and improve posture and balance, helping you avoid painful injuries.
